History of cupping
Cupping technique, also known as fire cupping, body vacuum therapy or cupping, is an ancient Chinese treatment method. The ancient method is to burn a combustible (such as wormwood or alcohol) in a cup made of horn, bamboo, glass or metal to form a vacuum in the cup, and then quickly place the cup on the skin to let the vacuum force suck up the tissue underneath. The surface of the body extends into the cup, and the pressed area usually turns red. Sometimes massage oil or aromatherapy essence is also used. Cupping is applied to important acupuncture points and is considered a way to stimulate the flow of qi, similar to massage and acupressure.
The role of the suction cup
The suction cup draws out air through a manual suction gun to form a vacuum on the surface of the body, rather than the traditional way of burning oxygen. If you think of massage as positive pressure (pressing body tissues), then you can think of massage suction cupping as negative pressure, pulling body tissues away from the body, stimulating them through reverse massage.
When used, the skin is pressed against the magnetic "needles" or acupuncture points. These are available in the "Biomagnetic" kit.
